Used to be the 727 on the Washington --> NY/LaGuardia shuttle run. Great plane, great legroom, and a fun exit out the tail stairs onto the tarmac.

I also like the Dash-8, because it has a very short TO, the overhead wing gives me a great view of the ground, and I love the sound of the propjets.

I don't mind any of the big ones, but I could do w/o everything except TO landing, unless I am in first class, which rarely happens.

Well, I've only flown on 737s and an ERJ. Oh yeah, a KC-135 too. But the ERJ would have to be my favourite. Leather seats, comfy, and pretty quiet for sitting close to the engines.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I love flying on the A320. The 737-NG are also great planes to fly on as well.

After 22 crossing on the Pacific Ocean on the 747-400 I look at that plane as a old friend now! Besides that I love 777 for United in First class!! But other than that... 747-400 all the way

I like flying on UA's A319/320's beacuse of those neat motorized video screens and because they are sooooo quiet. I also liked to fly on the 727,but that's no more

As for props I like the Saab340 with the ATR-42 a close second. As for RJs, I don't like them. As for the big boys, I suppose I like the A300. It has 2-3-2 seating like the 767, but it is roomier.

I've flown on the 747 the most no. of times but I prefer the 777 despite not having flown on them as often as the 747. I've flown the 777 on short & medium haul routes within Asia and they're very spacious, pleasant & have that new look & feel. But of course it helps when you fly on two top-notch carriers, CX & SQ, as the airline you fly makes a huge difference in comfort. I've also been on CX & SQ 747s, and I've found the their 777s to be much more comfortable in economy. The 777 is my favorite aircraft to fly on but I've also been on KA's A330 in 1998 on HKG-SHA however it was a bit cramped and I didn't enjoy the flight that much.

Thank you, IMissPiedmont - I agree that the Fokker F-27 was a wonderful plane to fly on. Who could beat those large oval windows and RR Darts (except for flying the Vickers Viscount), not to mention the main gear retracting into the engine nacelles. I flew in one over Rajastan, India, as a wee lad back in 1967 and have never forgotten that wonderful flight.
The aeroplane has unveiled for us the true face of the earth. -Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Favourite has to be the 762 with the 763 closely behind. I'm sure I'd love the 764, but haven't yet flown on one. Gotta love the 2-3-2 seating!

Well, I don't get much chance to fly. My last flight was about 4 years ago. I flew from Fayetteville, NC to Cebu City, Philippines on USAirways and Philippine Airlines. I flew on a F100, 737, 757, 747, and an A330. Based on that experience, I would have to say that the A330 was the most comfortable plane. The PTVs in the 747 weren't bad though. (plane was leased from Kuwait)
Anyhow, that's my opinion.
Have fun,  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Delta 757s and MD-80s, and Southwest 737s. I just enjoy the ability to switch seats in flight on Southwest (when the flights not as full, my MCI-TPA flight last summer was only about 1/4 full and everybody sat up front, it was at night since we arrived at midnight, I got right behind the wing on the left side most of the way, and had the entire row to myself! We flew over t-storms all the way out over the gulf until about 100 miles from TPA, it was my favorite flight I can remember!).

By far it's Lufthansa's beautiful A340-313X. Ever since my flight on June 11, 2001 with LHs A340 "Worms" I've been in love with LHs A340.

Fokker 50...love the high wing, and the 767...2-3-2 config is so much nicer for long-haul than 3-4-3 or 2-5-2 (the middle seat from hell!).  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

RE: What Is Your Favorite Plane To Fly On?

Tue Jun 11, 2002 5:57 pm

B747-400 and A340 for longhaul.
B777 comes in third. The 777 is nice inside, but I avoid twinjets on longhaul since I witnessed passengers deboarding one after an engine failure.

For shorter flights I have to say that I like to fly the Fokker 100. Its quieter than A320, B737 and MD80 and has wider seats than the first two. I´m not a fan of the two best-selling jets. The A320/321/319 and B737 are usually cramped and rather noisy.

Worst airplane types to fly are the very long single aisle airplanes like B757-300 and A321. Avoid them when you can. Especially boarding and de-boarding are a mess. And the B757 is the most uncomfortable airplane I´ve ever flown longhaul with (LUX-JFK).
