CanJet No-Frills Or Discount?

Mon Jun 10, 2002 9:37 am

Hi guys, is the new CanJet going to be a no-frills airline like JetsGo, or a discount airline? I know the difference of the two, but I haven't heard which one it is.

Thanks

I think they are going with exactly as they originlly were. I've seen the Canjet 737, exact same as before. I guess you can call them a no frills discount carrier Smile.....problem solved.

Hmmm, that's a good question??? I noticed that CanJet is following Tango and JetsJo's lead of all extras optional. In other words, it will cost you $1 each to buy either a snack or pop. This is a good idea in my opinion, b/c selling snacks and beverages can prove to be quite profitable.

Also CJ seems to be taking a page out of WestJet's books by referring to the customers as guests. IMO that's a smart move.

There's really no difference.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

So there won't be any free meals on CanJet flights? Jeez, airlines are getting cheaper and cheaper and I hate it! I think all passengers deserve a meal for free. It has been that way for generations.

A meal has never been free its just been included with the fare. Jetsgo charges for a pop and snack? I thought they were the "real discount airline"?

SkyService is not cheap, in regards to giving out food. On long haul domestic flights you are going to get a hot meal. on the short hope IE. YYZ-YHZ. you will get a continential breakfast and on the return flight you will get a Sandwich with your choice of Beverage. but you will have to pay for alcohol. As with all of our other flights.

Do you expect a free meal on the Toronto metro?

Also CJ seems to be taking a page out of WestJet's books by referring to the customers as guests.

Customers and guests are two different things.

As long as I paid, then I am a customer and expect to be treated as a paying customer.

If I am being treated as a guest, then everything should be no charge, including airfare. A guest politely accepts what their host has to offer. A guest can bring a gift for their host but it is quite rude for a host to charge a guest.

The start (or re- start... whatever) of Canjet was just a question of time. You have IMP in YHZ that has been stuck with 6 leases of 37's for at least another two years if I am not mistaken. 100 grand a month each. Why not start an airline? I am happy for the crews of CJ that will get up there again. Such nice people.

Just hope that those "smart people fly Canjet" singing commercials will stay out of the ad campaign. Urgh!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Air Fares are the lowest they have ever been. If you want a meal you should fly Air Canada.

Hotels call there customers guests and same with B&B's should hotels stop charging?

Air Canada serve meals on a short haul domestic flight???

5 Things I wouldn't consider a meal:

1) 7 rather bland pretzels
2) 2 Shortbread cookies (just like my nanna used to eat)
3) 11.5 "Yum Yum" brand chips
4) 2 stale Dad's cookies (if dad cooked 'em he is long dead)
5) Trail mix (with one small piece of fruit- kind of reminds me of fights between siblings over the pork piece in pork and beans)

LOL Vinovalentino and true but on flights more then what 2 1/2 I think hours you do get a meal. You want a meal pack a couple sandwiches before you get on thats all there is to it.

Well, given the epidemic of overeating & obesity in North Ameica, maybe the airlines are doing everyone a favour by cutting meal service.

Look at your stomach...uness you see washboard abs, you have a weight problem.

If I am a guest, then I should be there at their expense. If I am a customer, or client, then I should pay.
