Foretting what BA and AA did to VS years ago, I will tell you now to take any British carrier over a US carrier when possible. The simple reason is that US carriers are more concerned with profiting while British carriers are more concerned with customer satisfaction. VS, for example, offers "goody bags" where customers get free "socks," eye covers, pen and notepad, etc. I can't remember what BA offered ahead of the US competition but my flight from ATL-LGW on them a few years back was much more enjoyable then on any US carrier. AA isn't a bad airline. More Room Throughout Coach is a nice amenity, but, as an American, I find nothing worse than putting up with Americans while travelling internationally. The British are quieter, kinder, and more willing while Americans are, well, American... Not an insult to my fellow Americans out there, just a complement to my fellow British citizens out there (I'm a dual citizen...).
