What's The "best" Seat On BA 744?

Mon Jun 10, 2002 11:08 pm

Flying SFO-LHR next month and have to select a seat. In coach, what's the "best" seat on BA's 747-400??

I'd say any window seat in the rear cabin, and the wing does not obstruct your view outside.

Well, everyone has their "favourite"; mine is the very last row of the a/c, window of course; easy and quick access to toilets & galleys, more space to move around the trolleys when they're out and usually a congregation of the flight's more social passengers will appear by the rear exit door; you can then get out of your seat for a while, and engage in lively debate with your fellow pax and crew.

Regards

On the 4 cabin aircraft, the bulkhead row in World Traveller is 45 A-J. Plenty of room:D

My favorite is as far forward as possible on a window- Because of the curve to the nose and the unusually forward position, you get a pseudo forward view. Definitely the closest view to a jump seat that I have had from the cabin of any transport-

I've already taken a flight from MEL to SIN with a BA 744 and I was seated on the 53 B!!
-> Wonderfull, no other word to describe what i feel.
-> the sunset in Australia, the most beautiful outlook outside and 2 seats for me only. (53 B & C)

Really good flight with a lot of space even if someone is on the seat at your right.

I sat in the middle on the very last row flying LHR-BKK, and I think it might have been a very very very long takeoff roll but it felt weird being back there. I also sat in the middle further forward but it still wasn't very good.

I'd suggest at the back where it narrows by the window, you get quite good legroom and the aisle is wider.

On the LHR-SFO route it is very easy to get upgraded to World Traveller Plus, especially on the second daily flight. I got upgraded back in March and my wife got upgraded twice in April. Ask at check-in if you can go on standby for it.

I like the left hand seat, just move that bloke out the way first LOL
I flew LHR-KLAX on BA 744, sit by the emergency exit, by the bulkhead get loads of leg room, however its by the toilet(the soundproofing not that good) so you tend to know exactly whats happening in there(if you know what i mean!!??)LOL

Air Canada has a nice setup on their 747Combi's and I had the pleasure of sitting in row 18, seat K in economy on a school trip at easter. That was a very nice seat, right in the front.
When I fly VS to England, I usually sit somewhere between rows 30 and 34 seat A. Thats a nice seat, as its right at the front of the wing.
