Adventures Behind The Iron Curtain

Tue Jun 11, 2002 12:48 pm

In 1972 and 1983, I took trips to the interior of the Soviet Union. I flew from St. Petersburg-Moscow both times. I was there on business. I was apalled at the safety and service during this time period. I was on IL-62s both times coincidentally. If you have any questions about the service during this time or anything relating to air travel during the Soviet Union times, please feel free to ask me. Anyone have any similar experiances?

Just out of curiosity, what sort of business were you doing in the Soviet Union? I recall that the communist government was not too fond of intl. commerce.

My father was a Soviet citizen. I was taking care of a passport problem.

The passport was the first time. The second time, I had full approval from the government to enter the country for educational purposes.
