Charter Flights Using Widebodied Aircraft

Wed Jun 12, 2002 12:41 am

After reading one of the topics on this board, I thought just out of interest, I would ask to see where Mytravel, JMC, Monarch, and Britannia intend to send (respectively)their
1.DC10's
2.767's
3.A330's

this summer season. I will be hopefull going away to Tenerife or Ibiza from Man (EGCC)in July and I was just wondering what chance is there of getting on one of these birds. How often are Air Atlanta used to the Med?
I have tried to seek the information elsewhere, but could not find any relevant material, so I thought i'd ask the people that know!

Any info would be great!

Many Thanks

Britannia Sweden have returned the 763 to Britannia UK during the summer. So they just operate 7 B738 during the summerseason and I guess the 767 will be back in october or november for the longhault.

All but one of the 6 weekly MAN-IBZ flights with Britannia is a 767-200 or 767-300.

Loads of them doing shorthaul this Summer, 6 or 7 767-300 aircraft shorthaul and 3 or 4 dedicated longhaul. All 4 767-200s on shorthaul.

AMM are doing a few shorthauls with the 767 from LGW, Monarch are doing some A330 shorthaul work, My Travel have a DC-10 @ GLA between now and mid-August on short haul.

So there is a fair pick.

Out of the 2,163 Britannia flights from MAN this season, 620 are on a 752, 374 on a 762 and 1,169 on a 763. So the widebodies are leading the way.

Anything more specific with BY, just ask.

Rick767 if you could give the times and Flight no's of any 767 services to either Ibiza, Majorca or Tenerife that would be great. I have flown on a couple of BY 767-200's, one to Ibiza and one to Tunisia but this was years ago!It would be nice to get on one again instead of the 757!
I would love to get on an A330 service however! Anyone know where Monarch intend to send them?

Last time I flew they were 2-4-2! I think 3-4-3 would be impossible!

Captain.md-11-

In response to your question, about where DC-10s, A330s and 767s will be going this summer, FL is one of the destinations that will see these aircraft.

We get 767s and A330s on a regular basis down here, and sometimes MyTravel sends their DC-10s too.

Richardw-

BY 767s are 2-4-2, not 3-4-3.

All charter aircraft that come into my airport are configured as follows:

A330: 3-3-3
B767: 2-4-2
DC-10: 3-4-3

Richardw,

2-4-2 actualy, 3-4-3 on a 767 would be quite illegal! Normal scheduled economy on a 767 is 2-3-2.

Seat pitch on the 767-300 is 30", 767-200 is 28"

Monastir (MIR/DTMB) was and is still served with DC10,MD11,B767,A300,A310,A330,747 AND IL-96.
Corsair flies the A330 and the 747 to its Tunisian destinations.
Tunisair uses its A300-600 on charter flights.

Remember that charter flights has largely participated in the expansion of the wide bodied aircraft market !!!

2-4-2 is very tight on the 767 even.

Has nobody got a clue where the Mytravel, JMC and Monarch A330's will be seen in and around Europe this summer?

I have been lucky enough to fly on loads of them across the pond, so I fancy a change when I can! Mind due if I ever Captain one, the 767 certainly rules  Big thumbs up

Cheers, my aim at the minute is to complete my ATPL by February. This holiday would be a badly needed break, I am on a 'crash course' so to speak.I hope to have my frozen ATPL by this time next year.
Can't wait to get away, either on a 767 or A330  Wink/being sarcastic

Sounds like you need a holiday!

Where are you training out of interest? I was at OATS 1998/1999.

Sorry to disappoint you Captain.md-11, but none of our A330's are scheduled to operate any short haul flights this summer.

They are currently operating from LGW and MAN to:
CUN- Cancun, Mexico
POP- Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
LRM- La Romana, Dominincan Republic
SFB- Sanford, Florida
AVI- Ciego De Avilla, Cuba
HOG- Holgoin, Cuba
VRA- Varadero, Cuba
FPO- Freeport, Bahamas
YYC- Calgary, Canada
YVR- Vancouver, Canada

Although I believe that the A330 has done one or two ad hoc flights around Europe, not too sure where though.

I train with Pilot Assist college for ground school, and then do the practical work in Florida/UK. I could not see JMC needing to use the A330 on its European sectors.(baring in mind the 753)
