Air Canada Tango At LGA

Mon Jun 17, 2002 7:25 am

BigPhilNYC, Mirrodie and I spend a morning spotting at LGA today. They're great guys, by the way, and I had a blast with them.

Anyways, I noticed an Air Canada Tango A320 (I think the registration was C-FSAL, but I couldn't get a good look). Since when did they start sending those over here?

what was the scheduled aircraft. about a week ago aircanada sent a Tango 732 to phl, i am not sure exactly why, but it was either because the flt had already been over booked by a good number or because the scheduled aircraft was in maintenance.

AC has a few aircraft in Tango colours but mainline configuration. Tango only flies domestically so the aircraft seen at LGA and PHL were just ones that had not been fully re configured.

Seems like a waste to create the seperate brand and then use the aircraft to subsitute on mainline flights.

Tango is not a seperate brand, it is a service offered by AC, these planes were just at the end of their rotations in the mainline system, they had been painted but not yet re-configured, the plane may have been down for unscheduled mtc, and they had time to point it so that it would be ready to enter into tango service...

The Tango fleet is all ex-CP aircraft so they had to paint them at some point or another - why not into the tango colours. It doesn't cost that much to remove J class seats and add Y class seats. Seems to me a fairly inexpensive way to utilize excess capacity.

These aircraft are still be doing mainline flying because AC is adding a bunch of new routes and frequencies to the Tango network starting tomorrow (June 17).
