Miyagi/Japan (dpa) - Severe turbulence on the flight from South Korea to Japan left some members of the Turkish national football team fearing for their lives. Panic spread as the aircraft twice fell several hundred metres without warning.

According to Turkish media reports, striker Hasan Sas (Galatasaray) was particularly ill and received medical treatment on board. It was four minutes before the situation was back under control. "I thought I was going to die", said Football Associatioin President Haluk Ulusoy after landing in Sendai.
