Crash Victims Of Gulf Air 320 Crash Sews Airbus!

Mon Jun 17, 2002 8:52 am

From the aviation Safety Network;

16 JUN 2002 Lawyers for Gulf Air Flight 072 crash victims' families will file litigation next month in France against the airline and the aircraft manufacturer. he case is being brought against both Gulf Air and Airbus Industrie, alleging pilot error and that there were design flaws in the tail section of the Airbus A320.

How can they possibly affirm that they was a design flaw in the tail section when the lawyers probably don't even make the difference between a A320 and a 747! I'm sorry, but I think that those kind of pursuit are totally ridiculous, especially with no proofs. What do you think?

This lawsuit is just like the people that sued AA for crashing into the WTC on 9-11. People sue because they can. It's as simple as that.

If the actual cause of the crash was pilot error, then i am very dissapointed at this law suit. That's life i guess.

I think relatives SHOULD sue AA (and UA) following September 11. It shouldn't have happened. Flyingbronco 05, you're miles off. It'd be like the WTC victims suing BOEING. I don't think the manufacturer is responsible if an airline have completely non-existant security and allow their planes to be flown into buildings by hijackers (or for that matter flown into the sea by inexperienced pilots) but the airline IS.

The victims of Gulf Air will have a hard time winning against Airbus in a French court. In France, every previous Airbus incident was deemed to be pilot error, as their precious product is nothing short of perfection.

In the USA, it is quite conceivable that Boeing will be dragged into the WTC lawsuits, since AA and UA are financially weak at the moment and may not be a lucrative enough target for the greedy lawyers. If this happens, and if Boeing is found to be only 1% at fault while the airlines are 99% at fault but can't pay, Boeing may have to pay 100% of the judgement. There is a term for this, but I can't remember what it's called.

As far as the merits of a lawsuit against UA or AA? I personally do not think they did anything wrong. Boxcutters were not forbidden, and those were the weapons used. If anyone (other than the hijackers) can possibly be blamed, it is the government for not warning the airlines of possible hijackings, which they should have known, had they paid attention, were impending.

They should sue Al Qeada, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, etc. for bankrolling this attack. Let them pay the damages, not UA and AA, who were victims themselves.

Cheers,
Pete
