Singapore Airlines Limited announced today that overall load factor increased 5% year on year to 69.8% from 64.9%. This is the fifth month in a row that load factors have increased from 2001.
SIA Cargo load factor was up 6.6% to 68.4% while Singapore Airlines passenger load factor rose 3.5% to 72.0%.
Yield / Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose substantially 8%, while Yield / Freight Tonne Kilometres rose 26.7%. "The past three months have seen double digital growth in (cargo traffic). The 26.7 percent recorded in May is incredibly strong," said John Casey of DBS Vickers Securities.
The load factor increased while capacity was increased 2.8%, making SIA carry 4.1% more passengers. SIA Cargo capacity increased 14.5% and the amount of freight carried increased by 17.7%.
