Taxiway Lights.....

Mon Jun 24, 2002 10:58 am

I call La Guardia ATIS refularlyto learn what runways they are using, and whether or not I should go down to the water to go spotting or not.

They always say the following:

"Taxiway lights........ on taxiway Bravo .........out of service........ between taxiway echo ............and runway 4.

Is there a way I cna learn the names of the taxiways at LGA?

And why won't they fix those damn lights!?!?!?!?!? lol

Note: I've only had this bookmarked for a few months and the URL's already been changed twice on me. So, if all else fails, go to and trudge through the website until you find the online airport diagrams.

Big Phil:

Go to your nearest FBO and purchase the NOAA approach booklet for the NY area. The LaGuardia section will have an airport diagram that will label all the taxiways.

Most airports have sometimes the lights are out of service due construction pavement or need to replace light blubs or reasons not using at night.

Ok here is the only way I know how, and it's kinda complicated. Go to It's geared towards flightsimmers for downloading charts. If you go to the SID/STAR/IAP section and download the IAP's for La Guardia, there will be an airport diagram, from 1995. Ok, it's a little old, and things have most likely changed.... It refers to the US air terminal as transient parking lol... Anyway, the taxiways are there..... This advice sucks, but there ya go lol..

Try . Then click on airports. Enter LGA and it will give you all the info you could want including diagrams. You can also purchase the A/FD. (Airport Facility Directory) for the Northeastern states. They have taxi diagrams.

This is the easiest way possible. Go to and type in KLGA. The list of all the types of arrivals and departures will appear, as well as a facility map. Click on the facility map, and it'll show you every taxiway etc...

If there is a section of twy lights that are out of service, there can be a couple of reasons:

1) construction in the area
2) blown out electrical transformer in one of the lights. This affects that specific light, and any further lights down that circuit. Transformers, though, are fairly easy to change, and most airport airfield electrical departments carry a supply in their sshops. I know we do, I've helped change them many times.

As for LGA diagrams, go to, and click on the naco.faa link at the bottom of the page.
