Trip Of A Lifetime Coming Up Tomorrow!

My family and I, as our annual "big trip", have decided that the kids are now old enough to appreciate the history and natural beauty of Hawaii, so we went and booked a 12-day trip for us and my parents. The flight routings will be as follows: EWR-HNL, HNL-OGG, OGG-HNL-LAX-EWR, with flights on 767-400s, 717-200s, and a 737-800, with CO for the long-haul segments at Hawaiian for the interisland travel. I fully plan on writing a good trip report upon my return, but for now, I thought maybe I could bring the topic up in the Civil forums to see what kind of feedback I could get. So, if any of you have traveled on the flights that I am about to take, have stayed at any of the hotels (Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki and Hyatt Regency Maui), or have been to the Islands, please share your experiences so I know what I'm about to see with the whole family in tow!

How wonderful your trip sounds...

I am positive that you'll enjoy Honolulu as well as Maui. I am originally from Hawai'i. Both hotels that you are staying at are top notch. Have a blast.

Are you flying in coach or first on the long haul?

I am actually traveling with two seats in BF, the rest in back, so I plan to switch with the kids during the flight to let them sit up there with their mom, and let me chat with my folks. Thanks for the kind words, I won't disappoint with the trip report! Picked up a new Sony DSC-S85 just for it (well, sort of...).

You will have a great time!!! I just got back from Hawaii in May. The BF seats are the best. Did you use mile for them or pay for them? Anyway the Hyatt Regency is an AWESOME hotel!!! I may be able to go back there in August, we will see. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait for the trip report

As a frequent visitor to the islands, especially Maui, I can tell you, you will be flying to the most beautiful place in the world. Both Hotels are first class, and Continental to Hawaii is the best service out there. I'll be out there in mid July, actually, PIT-LAX with US and LAX-OGG Hawaiian. I can't wait. I highly recommend taking a helicopted tour of Maui, it'll take your breath away. Have a blast.
