China Northern Airlines Crash, Suicide Bomb Blamed

Fri Jun 28, 2002 12:26 pm

It is now reported that the China Northern Airlines crash off the Dalian coast in China was caused by a suicider bomber. The aircraft was a MD-82 that took off from Beijing bound for Dalian on May 7, 2002. The pilots reported a fire in the cabin and within minutes, the MD-82 crashed into the sea. The report said the fire was started when a suicide bomber detonated explosives. He apparently was upse over the corruption in the provincial government. The alleged corruption were covered up by government officials who protected each other.....

This news article was sent to me earlier today. I tried using the altavista translator, but it didn't turn out well. If there are any fluent Chinese speakers, please report the article in English... Thanks.

That is not very good. The only small positive thing would be the pilot did nothing wrong.

The investigation team was trying to investigate why a passenger bought 5 insurances and smoking inside the cockpit.

This may sound stupid, but why wouldn't a bomb just blow the whole plane up? Like I said, sorry if that sounds stupid, but I always thought that when a bomb goes off in a plane, the whole thing blows up.

Maybe not enough explosives or they were wired incorrectly.

Bobcat, could you please do not use those information which have not been confirmed? You know that there are many versions of the story about the air crash happened nearby Dalian, China. Let's wait for the official statement, please.

By the way, I am not saying that the report on Renminbao.com is unreal, but what I have heard from a lot of Chinese aviation professors and foreign aviation analysts, no-one really even mentioned anything about the story on that web site.

Also, I personally think there was a passenger bought 7 insurances, not 5 as what some reports said.

The whole thing has not been confirmed and we should not yet give any final comments about the crash.
