Great Plains To Take More Planes

Sat Jun 29, 2002 5:45 pm

Great Plains Airlines is seeking a 61.5 million US$ loan guarantee to get financing for 10 new planes. As rumours say that they have just recently bought 4 328JET from Fairchild-Dornier I would guess that these 61.5 million US$ apply to only 6 planes. The average sum per plane of ~10 million US$ indicates that they want even more 328JETs. Anyone out there who can confirm this?

Great Plains has also gained certification as a Part145 Repair facility for the Do328. They currently will operate a Part121 and Part145 operation, will add the additional 4 aircraft and rumors they are buying aircraft from the Skyway fleet.

My roommate is currently a Great Plains F/O and yes, their short term plans are for 4 more aircraft but no, they won't be Skyways airplanes.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

Having lived in OKC during their start up -- I've been able to follow them from the start. How has running a dual "hub" worked from them...comparing OKC to TUL? I know they are backed financially by the City of Tulsa...but I just seem to think it would be wiser to move everything to OKC and expand there. Bigger city and more room to expand soon with their new terminal.
