Air Force One At CLE 7/1!

Sun Jun 30, 2002 11:37 am

OK, fellow Cleveland spotters, Bush and his trusty old 747 will be making an appearance at CLE this Monday, so that means only one thing, a 747 at CLE! Since this never happens I suggest that anyone who isn't doing anything get out to the airport and get a few shots*! Most likely they will park AF1 at the I-X Jet Center so the best location for shots* would be Cargo Rd., right where FedEx is.

*By shots I mean photos, not shooting at the plane with a gun. Saying you're taking shots of Air Force One to some people would mean you are shooting at the plane.

Anyway, what time does the President usually get to cities and what time does he usually leave, because if he leaves before about 4:30PM, in royally screwed. Then I have to hope that some Middle East leader needs an organ transplant or breaks his hip so then he brings his caravan of 747s here.

What makes you think the road will be open? They close off the airport when AF1 comes and heavily patrol all roads. It'd be great to see but I dont think you can.

The best place to view will be from across the road. I recommend going to the 100 th bomb group; a restraunt across from the airport, they have viewing windows, make a reservation as soon as they open.

When the pres. comes to WI the security is very tight, and much more now then ever before. Good luck getting within good pic. range.
ask not what your pilot can do for you, ask what you can do for your pilot

Pmk, I forgive you for that because you haven't been to Cleveland recently. The restaurant was torn down at the beginning of April and the road the restaurant was on has been moved 500 feet away from the airport and 10 feet below ground level, so spotting at CLE is limited to a gravel lot 600 feet away from the other ends of those runways.

if they close Cargo Rd., well then I'll have to view it from Rte. 237 as we pass by the airport.

Yeah the bomb group's gone and I still think security will be tight.
