Just to further clarify some things that have been mentioned, AA never at any time offered service PNS-DFW and that to me was a blunder, because the carrier I feel would have done well on that route, instead they flew the wrong route, PNS-BNA ultimately using Saab 340's and the loads were low, they never gave an effective route a try and probably were "turned off" by the low turn over and load factors, in addition, now after the fact of 9/11 I dont suspect PNS will see American Airlines, with financial woes here and there.....the carrier will be very seletive in expanding any.
Also, as mentioned, Northwest JetLink offers one flight a week on Saturday evening DTW-PNS and on Sunday am PNS-DTW only. Us AirTran folks work right by the NW people and see the action that takes place day to day.
Lastly, again as mentioned, everyone wants Southwest, I dont think PNS would be a city thaywould likely choose, now that FL serves the city, along with DL(Skywest), US, CO competition, and being so close to city they do serve MSY, I think they would probably consider a smaller city like VPS (Fort Walton) where AirTran did do well. But those are just my thoughts and opinions...
Pensacola Regional Airport, does do well for itself, in the morning during the early morning push, from 5am till about 7am the terminal is a zoo with eight different airplanes looking to depart at nearly the same time. Likewise mid day arrivals and departures bring many passengers to and from the area, there was a recent article where it stated, AirTran has helped to boost an all time high in passenger boardings within the last six months, cant recall the exact figure but it was really promising....
So, Pensacola Regional Airport is poised to serve, the facility is really accomadating and user friendly.
Look forward to seeing you on one of our flights soon.
