New Australian Airline Unlikely

Tue Jul 02, 2002 3:10 pm

There have reports that SQ have confirmed that they are not interested in establishing a new Australian carrier.

Who knows maybe they are and do not want Qantas and Virgin Blue to fill the gap so quickly or maybe this has been a rumour that is nothing but a dream.

If anyone has any further info, your comments are welcome....

Australia needs two full service carriers. A true competitor to Qantas.

I heard that a few Star Alliance Members are interested in establishing an airline in Australia. Perhaps Air New Zealand and United?

Yeah,

I agree Australia does need a star alliance airline also, however it seems that nobody has the money to establish one.

I also dont think NZ and UA are in a position to establish an airline.
