Saudi Royal Family Fleet?

Thu Jul 04, 2002 6:50 am

I've seen many different aircraft here that are owned by the Saudi Royal Family. (ex. B743, B752, etc.) Does anyone know what their fleet consists of? Is Mideast jet in some way connected to the Royal Family? I believe they have a B763 & B772.

I know the Saudi Royal Family Fleet also includes an MD-11. Every once in awhile I would see it parked by Mercury at LAX.

They're owned and operated by Saudi Arabian Airlines; at least the larger a/c are anyway.  Smile

At LFMN I've seen a 747SP and an MD11 in the full Saudi Arabian livery.
They were both parked at the same place, far from the international terminal. At the end of the afternoon, they both take of at the same time. Noone boarded though, it seems that only the pilots were on board.
But as Saudi Arabian doesn't have schedulded flights to NCE, those aircrafts surely came there for a VIP flight.

1 x B747-300
2 x B747SP
1 x MD11
1 x B757
2 x B707
and more (not sure, but I think a B727 as well)

Interesting to know is that beside the 757 and the MD11 all aircraft are relatively old already, so I don´t think it will be too long til The Saudi King orders a 747-400.

They also have two L1011-500s in the official Saudi Royal fleet; plus once of the Princes owns the late King of Jordan's -500.

That fleet of Saudi planes in Geneva are there because King Fahd is spending a couple of months here on vacation. Saudi Royal Flight and other Saudi jets are coming in and out of here constantly, including 747, 757, 777, MD-11, 737, 727, L1011, Hercules, and on occasion the A340 belonging to the Saudi ambassador to the USA.

Doesn't the KINGDOM fleet belongs to the Saudi royal family too?

Isn't the 757 a flying medical center?

Hello, Saudi Arabian Royal Flight operates :

707-300 HZ-HM2 and 3
727-100 HZ-OCV
737-200 HZ-HM4
747-300 HZ-HM1A (the royal plane)
747SP HZ-AIJ and HM1B (mobile hospital the HM1B)
757-200 HZ-HMED (flying hospital)
Tristar HZ-HM5 and 6
MD-11 HZ-AFA1 and HM7

Many Hercules, Gulfstream and Falcon are also operated by Saudi Arabian Royal Flight, Saudi Aeromedical Evacuation, Saudi Arabian Special Flight Division.

I believe that 747SP HZ-AIF (Saudi Arabian Airlines) is VIP configured.

Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia operates A340-200 HZ-124, the Royal Saudi Air Force will take delivery of BB1 and BB2 soon.

I believe Prince Abdul Aziz Al-Ibrahim also owns a Cayman registered L1011-500 which has been parked at a conversion centre at Dallas Love for some years.

If I remember right from a 'Airways' article from a few years, the Saudi A340 shown above was the 2nd Prototype A340 from the early 90s.

Wow, why do they need so many jets?

Good question. It's not like they're a spoiled rotten, frivolous, tyrannical collection of wannabes blowing through billions of dollars of oil money.....

Maybe it's a 'male' thing. Y'now...buy lots of widebody jetliners to make up for......... oh, who knows.

Simple, the Saudi Royal Family has thousands of members so if you see a ratio of aircraft/family member you'll see thier is nothing impressive about it. The second point is that the aircrafts are also used by the provincial governments whos rulers are aren't necesarily members of the Royal family.

Frivolous or not, I know the 747-300 was used for HOUSEHUNTING on the northwest coast of Scotland a couple of years back. Yes, househunting in a 747-300.

Currently parked at GVA and they have been here the last five weeks:

1x B747-300 King's aircraft
1x B757-200 medical
1x MD-11

and a range of smaller business jets in full Saudia colours.

The A340 above was parked at Tucson for a couple of weeks in January 2001. I thought it was used to transport Saudi Air Force pilots who were training with the AZ ANG. Maybe we were wrong.

The Saudi Royal Family is beyond corrupt. They are going to have some real problems within a generation or two.

The simple fact that they need a Boeing 757 equipped as a hospital plane to follow them around tells alot about their over-indulgent lifestyles and hopelessly misdirected priorities.

They should worry less about jetting off to some posh locale in their ridiculously unneccessary 747s and more about the reasons behind why 17 of their "subjects" murdered over 3,000 Americans.

The 340 is owned by Kingdom holding Co. the Holding company for one of the 10 richest men in the world Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal, with interest in most business areas in most corners of the world.

As mentioned earlier, the Saudi Royal Family has 25,000 - 30,000 members most of them rich by heritage or by business interests, operating individually a very large fleet of VIP aircrafts.

It is also correct that the "official" Royal fleet is operated by Saudia Royal Flight.

What about this Boeing 777-200 BBJ owned by the Prime Minister (Rafic Hariri) of Lebanon I believe (Eastern Sky's ltd/Saudi Oger ltd.). Who would dream about having its own personal 777, wow. I wouldn't mind  Wink/being sarcastic
