Fri Jul 05, 2002 2:20 am

I know Emery shut down most if not all of their airnetwork. What happened to there DC8s and DC10s? Are they parked? For sale? Scrapped...I know some of the 8s where dogs.

I counted 8 of the DC-10s in San Antonio at Boeing's facility there, I took some pictures, but I haven't gotten them developed yet.

Most of the DC-8s are in storage. Emery did not own all of them. They have been returned to the lessors. Some have been sold to an outfit that I think is a leasing company. Two of the 63s have gone to South America and at least two of the 70s went to Air Transport Intl and one 62 has gone to MK Air Cargo. Two 63s went to Murray Aviation last summer. I too had heard that a lot of the eights were in bad shape.

Murray Aviation at Willow Run?

I've been seeing classic DC-8s flying into Willow Run again lately, havent seen much of them since Zantop and Kalitta no longer use them.

A few Sundays ago, I saw two ex-Emery DC-8-70s at Kingman. They were in the process, I believe, being "concooned". They were in pretty decent shape to me, at least. Regards.

As was stated a couple went to BAX/ATI and can be seen in TOL daily. From what i'm told, they were used to retire the remain -6Xs that were in the dedicated BAX fleet...but the passenger/combi -6Xs are still around.
