SilkAir will launch twice weekly scheduled to Chengdu in China, capital of Sichuan Province from 24 July 2002.
The service will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft.
"The recent successful conclusion of an expanded Air Services Agreement between The People's Republic of China and Singapore, has paved the way for SilkAir to increase its flight frequencies and network to China. The twice-weekly flights to Chengdu will complement well with our already well-established thrice-weekly flights to Kunming and five-weekly services to Xiamen. An upcoming co-operation with Sichuan Airlines will also provide more avenues to develop tourism to South and Central China" said Mr Subhas Menon, Chief Executive of SilkAir.
SilkAir is part of the Singapore Airlines Group and is 100% owned by Singapore Airlines Limited.
