Continental 737-900 And 753

Mon Jul 08, 2002 2:28 am

I'm thinking about flying from EWR-FLL on Continental either on the 739 or 752 in coach. Any preference, also what routes does the 753 fly for them?

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Roswell,
a great source for aircraft types on routings is oag.com

Just search by route....you have to know which routes are LIKELY to use the 753, but since CO only has a few (3 or 4?) 753's, you could probably find most of the routings quickly. For the CO 753 routes, I would search under EWR-FLL/MCO/IAH/SFO/LAX/MIA.

They might use the 753 on different routings on weekends than weekdays.

Regards
Neil

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Actually, I think CO only uses their 753's down to Florida at peak times such as spring break of Christmas.

You have a better chance of finding a 739 flight down there over a 753 this summer as the 753 has moved on to serve hnigh density routes. I think CO has one 739 flight to FLL from EWR a day. Usually, i fly EWR-FLL however recently I have been flying JFK-FLL for certain reasons, not like jetBlue had anything to do with it.

OAG.com is a very good source for what you need.

Between the 739 and the 752, go with the 752... I have been on both, the 753 and the 739 and if anything, the 739 is just as tight as their old MD80's. If pitch is not an issue, try the 739 because it is new and is sleek and has big overhead bins (chuckle).

I fly EWR-FLL all the time and prefer the 739 over the 753, but prefer the 752 over both.

CO flies both the 739 and the 753 between IAH and MSY. 3 daily 753's in fact. I see the 700am departure parked next to a WN 737 every morning on the way to work. All I can say is wow...what a monster!

I'd go for a 753 flight...the thing just looks cool.

Why would seat pitch be different on a 757 and a 737, both operating for CO? There the same fuselage, just longer.

The 757-300s are moved to IAH during summer months. During Winter season they operate out of EWR. The 737-900s are out of all of the hubs presently. I have flown the 757-300 three times between IAH and MSY- twice on the 7:00a flight that was mentioned in an earlier post. They are currently on flights from IAH to: DEN, MSY, MCO, LAS, LAX, CUN. There is also an odd flight listed: CO4930 to MCI only on August 16th. For the month of September the 753 will operate EWR-LAS.

I would say take the 753.

My girlfriend flew yesterday IAH-MCO on the 739, she said the plane was shaking when it took off, and she was all scared. Anyway though... just take the 753.

On the current schedule, CO's four 753s (Ship#'s 851-854) fly IAH-DEN/LAS/LAX/MCO/MSY. At the end of the day, one overnights each in MSY and MCO, and two in LAX. (Well.. one red-eyes back to IAH)

I've never been on the 753, but it seems mammoth!
