I believe there are several other posts on this topic... some started today.

United operates B747 on domestic routes such as DEN-LAX, ORD-California, etc.

I know NWA operates a 742 service from MSP to HNL; but I'm not sure if you were referring to contigious 48 states when you said "domestic service."

Go to www.united.com, type in SFO-DEN/ORD and you'll see tons of 744, 772 service, we're talking about 4 or 5 daily of each from SFO to those two cities, incredible...

UA:
SFO-DEN #372 & 756

-ORD # 858

ORD-LAX # 121
-SFO #151
-DEN #253,967 & 263

DEN-SFO # 1065 & 409
-LAX # 539 &1651
-ORD # 958 & 966

On some of these routes, depending on the time-you could fly every plane in the UA fleet (except the 762)

I've done 858, 408, 1065, and 151.

The 151 plane works the SFO-SYD flight at night.

That's a ridiculous amount of 747-400s domestically, huh?

Everytime I go to work, I shake my head in awe, then drool at the SA capabilities.  Smile

but most of the domestic 747-400 flights I've been on have all been packed to the brim, with exceptions of "employee class" and United Business.

They are there to feed hubs, and that's exactly what they're doing. Premium flyers book themselves specifically ON these flights because it's a 747...

Wasn't ORD-SEA served by a 747 seasonally at one point?

Or ws that a 777? Please refresh my memory.

There is still a 777 on ORD-SEA... it goes on to NRT.

I see several UA 744s every day. It's crazy; just a few years ago we were lucky to have just one every now and then. Now we've become a magnet for UA jumbos.

We even had a 747-200 DEN-IAD, IAD-DEN, before they retired them.

When I was in KOA last Saturday, a 744 was flying the SFO-KOA flight, I didn't realize this was the scheduled aircraft or not, earlier in the week it was a 757 operating the route.

Employee Class = United First on a domestic route in which the aircraft has a 3 cabin layout. :P
