Fed Ex DC-10s No More At AUS

Mon Jul 15, 2002 4:48 am

Yesterday, I saw a Fed Ex A300 approach AUS, instead of the usual DC-10. Is this a coincidence, or has DC-10 service been stopped?

I don't know... but usually here in SAT I see the FedEx A300 take off every afternoon, or evening, but the other day it was a DC-10. Are these permanent changes?

they can change their aircraft and routes randomly, so you never know. i know at PHL they sometimes fly from places you normally wouldn't expect to see fedex planes from, such as iad or portland, maine. So it might've been just a replacement for a few days or maybe its permanent

I've been seeing MD-11/DC-10's regularly at AUS.

A300/310 and 727's have been regulars at SAT lately. It's been a while since I saw an MD11/DC10

Considering DELL has plants in both Austin and Nashville, I doubt there will be much of, if any, cargo dropoff from FedEx at AUS.

I regularly see a DC-10 flying over my work on the inbound to the west side runway, the approach path is right over the building!
Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.

Those aren't DC-10s, they're generally MD-10s, no change to the schedule that i know of.

On Saturday there was a A300 from MEM, MD-10 from MEM and a DC-10 from El Paso. This was not a normal Saturday Fed Ex schedule.

AUS normally gets the MD-10's twice a day, some days only once. A300's and A310's arrive occasionally, but not very often. Only time I've ever seen a MD-11 here is around Christmas time.

As far as Dell goes....American Airlines carries a large amount of Dell cargo. Every time I fly out of AUS on AA, I see at least one plane being stuffed with Dell boxes.
