Are non-revs allowed to use unused crew bunk beds? (when it is completely unsued, empty, during the entire flight)

I don't know, but I would be very surprised if just any non-rev could use them. Although I could see the flight and cabin crew making exceptions for personal acquaintances and colleagues.

It depends on the individual airline policy and on the discretion of the commander of the flight (as does pretty much everything).

Personally, having tried one of the cockpit bunks on a 744 while jumpseating once, I'd much rather sleep in a seat. Those things are horribly claustrophobic.

I'd have to say it highly doubtful.

If I'm on a flight where the bunks are not used then staff who I know or friends are welcome to them. The only requirement is a short safety briefing on the safety equipment in the bunk room.
