Concorde launches specials from New York

British Airways is introducing reduced Concorde fares between New York and London For the leisure traveller looking for a the ultimate travel experience.

Seats are available at US $4,999 for one way on Concorde and one way in Club World (business class); the combination of Concorde and First Class is $5,999. Roundtrip on Concorde is $6,999, a 45 percent reduction off the normal roundtrip Concorde airfare.

These exclusive fares are available for sale through August 31, and are valid for flights to the end of December to or from any of British Airways' 21 USA gateways.

Elizabeth Weisser, Vice President Marketing for British Airways said: "For the leisure traveller who has never travelled Concorde and seeks the thrill of supersonic flight, never has there been a better opportunity to enjoy the speed, thrill and luxury of Concorde.

"In slightly over three hours between New York and London, one can realise the experience of a lifetime - flying 11 miles above the earth's surface at 1,350 miles per hour.

"With the Queen's Golden Jubilee being celebrated this year, Britain is in its full glory with special events, concerts and major celebrations going on throughout the country," Weisser added.

"And of course, there are the seasonal summertime events such as Glyndebourne, the Prom Concerts, Farnborough Air Show, Royal International Horse Show, the British Open and the Ryder Cup to attract Americans to Great Britain."

Concorde travel may be flown in any direction on any day of the week. Pricing is based on choice of cabin on the return flight with no price differential between East Coast, Mid-West or West Coast. Positioning flights to or from JFK for Concorde are additional.

Seats must be purchased at least 14 days prior to departure and payment and ticketing must occur within 48 hours or 14 days prior to departure, whichever comes first. Minimum stay is one Saturday night and maximum stay is one month. Fares do not include approximately US $121 for government fees and taxes, and a $2.50 September 11 security fee.

If they're going to charge you 7 grand for a round trip the least they could do is include the $2.50 Sept 11th security charge.

another "cheap" way to fly on the BA Concorde is to take a cruise. I sailed on Cunard to the UK and returned via the Concorde. The cruise fare provides coach seat for the return, but I only had to add $1100 for the upgrade to Concorde.

Great to hear that BA is extending new offers on the Speedbird. I had planned to take advantage of the earlier $3999 offer and fly SSC over and WT+ return in August, but my plans changed. Now I have another opportunity, albeit for $1,000 more. Having flown Concorde in 1993 (from IAD), I can tell you that it is really an unforgettable experience!

I will be flying it for around 1200US$ round trip LHR-JFK thanks to a promotion via a certain magazine. This promotion ended on June 30th, I waited till the last day.

I can't wait to fly on this beauty  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Glad to hear some of you guys are taking advantage of the specials out there. I think one of the greatest thing about working for BA is seeing the beautiful bird every day!  Smile Enjoy!  Smile
