Airbus Assembly Plant In Toulouse For A380 Opened

Wed Jul 17, 2002 6:01 am

Airbus Industrie, majority owned by EADS, opened it's new A380 plant which will assemble the superjumbo.

The site is 50 hectares and there will also be a static test hall. The plant will be linked with Toulouse Blagnac airport by two new taxiways. Work on the plant began in January 2002 and will end at the end of 2003.

Hmm. That's all the relevant details.

More information at the Airbus / Airbus4U website

Why do they need it open so far in advance? Do they do tests and stuff there first? Won't it take a while before they get to making a life-size prototype?

Aio... they have made a life size prototype. Assembly on certain parts of the plane has already begun. Remember it takes a little while to put one of these things together, you cant build an airplane in 3 days.

Why would Jacques Chirac not be well and alive?

Anyway, good news for Airbus.

Pardon my ignorance, but when was Bastille Day? What exactly happened? Who would want to assassinate him? Supporters of that racist opposition that didn't get elected?

Bastille day is the 14th July. The attempted assassination was undertaken by a part-time chauffeur and member of a far-right student group, 25 year old Maxime Brunierre who fired a shot at the President from a .22 hunting rifle, which fortunately missed the President. He then tried to turn the rifle on himself before being over-powered by members of the crowd and arrested by the police.

And now back to Airbus Assembly Plant in Toulouse......

Aio86, for your information, the ceremony was for the completion of the building.but it is an empty building. Now, they have to install all the equipment (tools, cranes, etc...)
It will take quite a lot of time.
they also have to build the taxiways.
we all havew to be patient...
