AA Ramp Rat Interview Test

Wed Jul 17, 2002 1:59 pm

My uncle is having an interview at AA for Fleet services @ CMH. He said he will have to take a pre-interview test. What should he expect, what does the test include?

He will be required to take a hand mirror between his thumb and index finger.

With a firm and steady grip he will be required to hold the mirror three to five inches away from his mouth.

On a verbal command from the HR rep, your uncle must exhale a normal breath onto the mirror.

Within a matter of mere seconds, the HR rep will take said mirror and check for the presence of fog on the shiny surface.

If your uncle is able to fog that mirror, he should be able to load luggage into the fore and aft bins of the various aircraft that call upon CMH.

More than likely it's one of those skills tests where they test to see if you can do math and understand written English. I took one of those tests when I applied to AirTran. There were about 60 people that came to the hiring fair; after that test, it shrank down to about 30. So that tells you something about the education level of workers in the United States.

They give you a locked Samsonite and see how long it takes you to break it open.  Big grin

Seriously though, I expect that the test would involve being able to recognize patterns. In other words, recognizing codes without reading them.

Wow! The company I used to work for didn't even check if they were breathing. All they needed was a little bit of warmth...if you're warm you're in, if not...well we can find something for you...  Wink/being sarcastic

BTW, good luck!

Tom
