MAS BNE-AKL?

Sat Jul 20, 2002 11:00 pm

What happened to Malaysia Airlines' services between Brisbane and Auckland? The current timetable shows that MH 135 terminates in BNE, operated by an A330, and AKL services operated direct by a 744.

Anyone?

Hmm... wierd, the timetable is valid till Oct and it says nothing about the BNE-AKL-BNE service. I have heard about it buzzing over this forum but it just died. So I am assuming its never going to happen.

Even EZE is not in the timetable... But there was also talk that they were going to reinstate that service. I guess not.

I was at the airport today and the MAS flight into AKL was delayed from 1115 to 1445 - plus the scheduling board read KL SYD BNE so I guess today was a special exception where they routed it via Sydney!

Admittedly, the board also read for an Air NZ flight 'Okaka Christchurjj' and a Qantas flight originating from 'Brisbans'...

I think the board may have been wrong it is every now and again!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

EZE has already been reinstated 2x weekly with 744's via South Africa!!

B-HXB,

I sure hope MH137 wasn't routed KUL-SYD-AKL. My boss was on it and he'd have been seriously pissed off if BNE wasn't where he got off the plane.

Anyway, I've got the hardcopy version of MH's timetable and it doesn't have this particular routing in it. But from what I can tell from the website, it's a daily 744 serving that route now.

So trying to decipher the string of letters in your post, TG992 - I assume the bottom line is that MH137 was routed via both BNE and SYD from KL today?

Such confusion... So the timetable is not accurate then! No wonder the disclaimer "accurate at the time of printing" is there. But something as obvious as reinstating flights to EZE would show up on the booklet, no?

Routing flights via BNE / SYD... can't they make up their minds?

Perhaps MAS cancelled their Sydney service today and put everyone onto their BNE/AKL service ...? But according to the string of information TG992 posted, MH137 went to Sydney then Brisbane then Auckland? Which is a pretty silly way to fly, considering you essentially cover the distance between SYD/BNE one more time than if you flew KL/BNE/SYD/AKL...

Not exactly the best way to build up customer loyalty!

I think the reason these flights not appearing at the paper timetable was because MAS operate this route (KUL-BNE-AKL) with effective from July 1 2002. Since the timetable was printed somtime in February/March, I guess they didn't include that schedules in there. Other changes including daily flights to Frankfurt from 5 weekly, reinstatement of the Buenos Aires flights were not in the timetable. However, if you check the online version, it's there. I believe that MAS operate the KUL-BNE-AKL route five times weekly. I think there are some errors at the KUL flight display information system. I was there last Tuesday and the flight to Adelaide was written as the flight to Melbourne. And judging from the the time given by TG992, I don't see how MAS can depart SYD at 0755 and arrive into BNE at 0500. I don't know, maybe this was a special flight of somesort? According to amadeus, they are still operating the KUL-BNE-AKL flights 5 times weekly and not routing it via SYD. Anybody got further information?

Thanx!

You know, I have found many discrepancies in the MAS timetable. For instance, even though it was printed in Feb, there is a validity period and there isn't even any stated for Subang's operations.

Validity for BNE and AKL flights are blank... which means direct KUL-AKL flights still stand.

Manchester is shown to be a direct service?

There isn't even a timetable for Tawau-Tarakan flights when it is clearly stated in the route map.

What happened to Buenos Aires? They bothered to put a * next to EWR flights which meant suspended till further notice but not EZE.

Not very consistent, is it?
