Will AA Come Back To Scandinavia

Mon Jul 22, 2002 6:10 am

After the 9/11 AA stoped flying to ARN. Will they ever come back? I have heard that AY are looking for permission to fly from ARN to US but they haven't got the permisson yet. AA still have the rights between ORD to ARN. Could it be some kind of coodchareo between AY and AA on that flight?

My question is: Will AA start flying to ARN again? Or to Scandinavia?

American carriers are still losing money on the transatlantic runs. So expansion will primarily be on the most important markets, the big hubs of Europe (LHR; FRA; CDG etc). Secondary markets will hopefully follow, but years from now.
Things are not looking that good for Stockholm-Arlanda at the moment. Sri Lankan has stated that they are returning at the earliest three years from now (if ever). Air China hasn?t launched their 4th weekly flight yet (as were discussed for this autumn). SK is not planning any new transcontinental flights from ARN and DL, LY, EI, RO, LZ are not returning for the time being.

AY and AA, as onworld partners, are looking for anti-trust to deepen their cooperation.

But I don't think you'll see AY operating any ARN-ORD flights. What equipment would be used?

However, if AA decides to come back, AY will codeshare for sure.

Nothing in the pipeline at the moment! When asked if AA was planning to return to ARN, Capacity Control answered 'Don't hold your breath'! I think that about sums it up!

Robert,

That is Capacity Planning instead of Capacity Control but the answer is still the same.... AA is not interested in ARN at this time.
