How Many Civilian Aircraft Were Destroyed During G

Tue Jul 23, 2002 9:47 am

I know a BA 747-200 was destroyed in cross-fire at Kuwait airport during hostilities in 1991, but were any of Kuwait or Iraqi Airways aircraft destroyed? I think most of Iraqis fleet was stored somewhere or other but were any aircraft actually damaged/ destroyed during the conflict?

Searching Bill Harm's website I came up with two aircraft, one civilian and one military:

British Airways 747-136 G-AWND
Kuwait Air Force DC-9 KAF320

I should also point out that the BA was w/o Feb-91, while the Kuwait was w/o Aug-90.

I also note B767-269ERs 9K-AIB, 9K-AIC and
A300C4-620's 9K-AHF, 9K-AHG were destroyed by Allied bombing
while the planes were stored in Iraq. The 767s were at Baghdad,
not sure where the Airbus's were stored when destroyed.
