BA 744 In YOW July 22

Tue Jul 23, 2002 10:21 am

Does anybody know why British Airways 747-436 G-CIVV was in Ottawa [YOW] today?
It was at the airport for over two and a half hours.
I was at the airport as it moved towards the runway [25] and it sat at the holding point for half an hour with all four engines running, before shutting three of them down and waiting about another 40minutes.
It finally left after over an hour and 15minutes at the holding point.
I know the reason for its delayed departure, which was "Flight Plan" difficulties, but am unsure of its reason for being in Ottawa.

Does anybody know if the Aircraft may have made a stop in Ottawa for a mdeical or technical "emergency"?? The flight was bound for LHR when it left this afternoon, so i am guessing it came from YYZ or YVR.

BTW. it made a very impressive takeoff, running along the ground for little more than 30seconds.

thanks

Probably the inbound YYZ flight diverted because of t-storms at Pearson.

massive t-storms in toronto area from 1pm to 4pm today. around the time of the 2 daily BA 744 arrivals.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Minor correction, but only one YYZ-LHR BA flight is a 744. That is 093, the 1455 arrival. The other flight, 099, arrives at 1750.

Thanks guys and gals  Smile

Well, i would guess it was going to YYZ because of the amazing takeoff it did, but someone there commented that it was bound for LHR. i think he was confused.

Did anyone get any pictures of it? I wish I'd known it was there. I would have been there in a flash.
