Q About Formula 1 Drivers´ Private Jets´ Movements

Wed Jul 24, 2002 7:24 pm

Hello everybody,

I was wondering whether you know anything about where (and when) the Formula 1 drivers and their respective planes are flying for this weekend´s German Grand Prix.

I´m asking this, because my local airport is the closest to Hockenheim, and I thought I might spot some unusual visitors. Any idea what I can expect?

Thanks,

N176AF is the Cessna 650 Citation that flies for Ilmor formula 1 engineering, who supply engines to Mclaren.
You'll probably find that around somewhere I would think.

Sorry, Not A Straight Answer To Your Question...

..but if you want to spot F1 planes in a small, nice-to-watch and easy-to-reach surrounding, go to Spa-Francorchamps during the Belgian Grand Prix, there's a little airfield close to Francorchamps, where you can find most of the planes. Just leave the highway Trier-Lüttich at the Grand Prix Racetrack and look for airfield signs (about 15km from the highway)

I know it's only VfB but I like it!

Well, unlike Francorchamps, I can reach MHG by bike, so... Big grin

I witnessed a small jet which I believe was a Challenger roar over the city centre this morning, that prompted my question. Other than that, our local newspaper predicted an additional 500 heli movements over the weekend, unfortunately no word on fixed wing a/c.

The N176AF I spoke about in the above post is flying into Baden-Baden (FKB)

Hope this helps.
