Midway Airlines And USAirways?

Thu Jul 25, 2002 12:55 am

I just went to the Midway Airlines website to book a flight from PHL to ORF, and I came across an interesting little message...

Midway Airlines Corporation announced that it would temporarily suspend flight operations commencing at the close of business 17 July, while it reconfigures its fleet and adjusts its business model to take advantage of a new business opportunity with USAirways, Inc.

What happened to the Midway/AA affiliation? Are Midway and USAirways going to merge? I'm very disappointed...USAirways is swallowing up all the great airlines of the 90's...first Shuttle America, now the already-resurrected Midway Airlines.

Yes, Midway is going to become a Us Airways Express carrier with an all CRJ fleet. It's too bad, I liked Midway, they were a great airline.

They say it'll happen in 60 days, but frankly I think this is the last we've heard of JI.

They are becoming a US Express carrier. Just curious, though, why would you use Midway to fly PHL-ORF? They do not fly to Norfolk.

Jetstream 61:

A valid topic, yes, but why would you book PHL-ORF on Midway Airlines anyway? Midway suspended a number of its routes months upon months ago, and until recently (per the US agreement) had service to Florida via RDU to only DCA, LGA, and BOS.

In addition, if you have any credits on Midway's Frequent Traveler program, transfer them into US Airways Dividend Miles AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The deadline for transfer is August 15, 2002. Here is a link to the explanation and proceedures for the transfer of credits: http://www.usairways.com/midway/frequent_travel.htm.

I hope your questions were answered.
