Jetblue And FA Jumpseat Policy....

Thu Jul 25, 2002 1:04 pm

I once jumpseated on a jetblue flight from BUF to JFK. I actually sat in the jumpseat that swings out in between the two lavs in the rear of the aircraft. Their was also a Shuttle America FA in the other open jumpseat position as well. My question is, Does jetblue still allow other airline FA's to sit in the jumpseat. I did this last July and wondered if it was still available. Thanks

JetBlue allows pilots and flight attendants from all U.S. part 121 carriers to jumpseat in the cabin. We'll carry as many jumpseaters as we have open seats, including the cabin jumpseats. IMHO, it's one of the best policies in the business, and one I think is a real benefit for everyone, including JetBlue. You're welcome to ride any time.

Yeah, I think it is one of the best policies around. When I was a gate agent for AirTran we had other airline FA's come up to the counter to fill out a jumpseat form, but they had to occupy a passenger seat only. I know that most airlines don't do this because that airline FA has not been trained on that particular airlines evacuation commands and procedures. In my opinion, we're all FA's, we know how to evacuate an aircraft.

Thanks for letting me know,

Derek

I used to work for jetBlue up until the end of April. I can back up Jeff on this. Their policy was and still is to take all pilots and FA's as long as there are seats open.

I'm and FA now...I might need a ride soon Jeff!  Big thumbs up

Hey NonRevKing,

I saw your profile and it says you live in ATL, I do to. How come you left Jetblue? Who do you fly for now?

Well, honestly as a gate agent at an outstation, there isn't a lot of money in it. There was no hope of going full time anytime soon (and I was high on seniority). Apart from that, I had a conflict with someone in middle management that made things difficult to say the least. I can tell you that, and who I work for now via email if you want...
