BA002 Cancelled

Tue Jul 30, 2002 5:19 am

I just read tonights BA002 JFK-LHR Concorde flight was cancelled. Anyone know why? I know BA001 was delayed 40 minutes this morning, but it was said on here that it was due to ATC problems - has the aircraft developed a technical problem whilst at JFK?

Concorde has 3 inertial navigation units, 2 have to be operable for a service.
OAE had nos.2 and 3 I.N.U.s go crap.
Spares were tried, but there were problems apparently.
Then spares were sent out on the BA179, but of course far too late for the service to reach LHR before the jet ban.
OAE will position back today, to be prepared for the start of the August BGI season, (replacing the BA001 on Saturdays).
OAF operated the service today.

That would explain why a Concorde landed 15 minutes ago as BA9155 or similar SmileWas rather curious as I thought it may have been a test flight.

Look out for an airtest later this week, to validate a mod to improve the control systems of the secondary nozzles, which will make life easier when preparing aircraft for BGI services, which are near the aircrafts range limit.
