Aer Lingus has announced a loss of €140 000 000 / £62 000 000 / US$138 000 000.
We are not satisfied with mere survival. The survival plan was the beginning, not the end, of change at Aer Lingus. We are becoming more efficient, simplifying the business of getting people to their destinations," said CEO Willie Walsh.
Passenger numbers fell 4.6% to 6.6 million.
"Much more remains to be done to return the company to adequate levels of profitability," warned chairman Tom Mulcahy.
