I know that the freighters have to stop there for fuel. We're able to get higher loads by stopping in ANC than going direct, especially with the 747-200F and MD-11F, but I think it is the departure and arrival times are the reason for the pax service (probably some issue with earlier arrivals for business and connecting flights. KE082 leave around 1300 where KE086 leaves around 2300 so I think there is somehting there. But it is not due to curfew in Korea. With ICN we finally have a 24hour airport, whereas Kimpo(GMP) had a 2300L curfew that lasted until 0600L next morning.
I do know that usually the only thing we do in ANC is load fuel. It is rare that pax or cargo get off (esp for pax on the JFK-ANC run...). Sometimes they will have to off-load pallets in ANC for ACL reasons on the freighters onward to ICN. But ususally it is nothing more than a tech stop. BTW, most of our freighters route through ANC for fuel, except when the West Coast has the 744F which can go direct at payload.
