AWA Alliance?

Fri Aug 09, 2002 12:52 am

With all of the rumors of airlines seeking out new codeshare and alliance partners in response to the UA/US alliance, what do you think America West is going to do? There have been no rumors of America West aggressively seeking out any new domestic partners, besides the recent agreement with Hawaiian.

Is America West going to sit idly by and let everyone team up around them? Or do you think they're considering joining up with anyone? I would think there's no better time than now for America West to seek out a partner due to the economy, as well as their consistent 1st place rankings in performance and operations. It seems as though before nobody wanted them because of their constant poor performance and operations style, but now they're consistently at or near the top when it comes to performance, so they might be a bit more attractive to some carriers that previously overlooked them.

Any comments?
