Share Your US Airways 767 Experiences

If you've flown aboard US Airway's 767s, please share your story!

I don't have much of a story. I flew PHL-SFO in the mid 90s...that's about all I remember.

Now...your turn...

Back in '92 I flew from CLT-MIA and the flight was uneventful until the landing. We touched down and bounced back up for about 3-5 seconds b4 we eventually hit terra firma to stay. It was the first flight for a friend of mine and he said he enjoyed the landing.(He's crazy about roller coasters) Smile

I flew US 767-200ER from LGW to PHL in 1998. The plane was in the new livery, introduced in early 1997. The flight was fine. Cabin crew were friendly. The seats in economy were smallish, 32 inches of legroom, and the in-flight service was nothing exceptional, pretty much what you would expect on a 767 flying from Europe to the USA. The plane was only 75% full or thereabout, so there was some room to stretch. The cabin was clean, but worn. The carpet was spotted here and there, and the walls and ceilings were yellowed with age, and there was a moisture bubble in one corner.

The senior flight attendant told me this was an ex-Piedmont machine, and was one of the oldest in the US Airways fleet. The night before, it had flown from PIT to LGW.

Flew on one back in 1994 from CLT_LAX and connected to LAS. I was with a bunch of friends from work. Sat all the way in the back of coach and got free drinks the whole way out to LAX.

Superb flight. I remember the safety demo video had a Captain with a German sounding accent on it. My first time on a 767.

I flew on a US Airways 767-200 this past September 16th from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles. It was a great flight....about 4 hours and 45 minutes in length, full dinner service, no one sat next to me so I was very comfortable. It was a truly enjoyable flight. The flight had originated much earlier in Paris, I would not hesitate to fly a US 762 on a Transatlantic flight if worse comes to worse.

I've flown the 762 on the LGW-PIT route as well as from CLT-PHL. The flight from London I was in a middle seat on the last row before the bulkhead divider yet I was surprisingly comfortable. I remember being fairly impressed with the service, especially the "snack" about an hour before landing (traditional English tea). The only drawback is the lack of PTVs, gotta go with the AB 333 from now on.
My other trip was from CLT-PHL and it was in first class. A two hour ground hold in CLT due to weather in PHL it was made much more tolerable being upfront. The extra room and continued beverage service was much appreciated. I found the flight to be very smooth and quite comfortable.
All in all two pleasant experiences. The US fleet of 76s do seem a little old, but they can still be comfortable.

I flew a US 762 R/T from PHL - FCO in 2000. The outbound leg was marred by my bronchitis, which was frustrating to me and my fellow travellers, as I was constantly coughing for the duration of the 9+ hour flight.
I do remember that despite my coughing, the FA still would not give me a whole bottle of water. Other than that, the flights were great. The quality of US transatlantic service is wonderful, I think, no matter which equipment you fly on. Of course, if you need a PTV, you might think otherwise. But their food service (pre-9/11 at least) was very good, as was their European ticket office staff, who helped me change a ticket.

First time was in Jan. of 1990 flight # 1060 from LAX-PHL. I sat in economy and remember eating some oreo type ice cream sandwhich for dessert. The landing was hard too.

Second time was in '97 from PHL-MAD in the old business class. I complained so much about the crappy seats that the following year US Airways created Envoy Class! The food was good though and the F/A's were nice.

I flew on a USAirways 762 from PHL-CDG and then LGW-CLT. They were both great flights and the service was good. They offered two meal services each way and movies of course. Even though there are no PTVs, the economy cabin is so small that everyone gets a pretty good view of the screen. Both flights were completey full and my dad sat in Envoy class while my brother and I were stuck in the back!  Sad How nice is that?!?! Thanks dad! Anyway, I heard that the service on the A330 for USAirways is absolutley wonderful. I would love to try it out one day!

First experience was back about 3 years ago from PHL-CLT. I was on my was to Las Vegas, and had to stop there first. The aircraft was towed over from one of the International A gates. It was my first experience in Envoy class. It's too bad I wasn't flying overseas. I did not know later that I would get to fly in it again.

A couple months after that, I flew PHL-CDG Envoy Class again. It was overall just a great experience!

I flew a US 762 in april'01 from PHL-LAX.This flight was a connection from a LGW-PHL US A333 flight.

Ths 762 was clean and tidy,+ I had a had a window seat and the seat next to me was empty!....love that!

I'd fly the 762 againg, but it has to be the A333 across the atlantic, much better.

I'll(or plan to)fly with US from LGW-IAH(A333/A319) and LAX-LGW(A319/A333) in late nov or early dec.I'll post the report as usual.

I flew on one thie past Monday from PIT to PHL. I fly flight 976 (operated by a 767) every week and I keep ending up on N652US excpet once I was on N645US (the Pride of Piedmont). It has the same grey interior as the rest of the fleet. Not a bad airplane, and the most reliable in the US fleet.

I flew on a 767 once- CLT-SJU (US 1677) in April. Engines were loud, but other than that, the flight was smooth & the 767's pretty nice. I hope they have them for a while. One thing I noticed is that on this plane (N656US), the paint by the 2L door was chipped in several places. Also, there was a problem with our safety video, so it started as we started taxiing to the runway.

I liked it, but nothing compares to the A330, which I took on the return trip (US 126 SJU-PHL, 3rd flt. on that type.)

I didn't know that US has been running domestic 767 routes for so long- I only thought that started when the A330s came in & pushed some of the 767s out of Europe.

Cody- I know about the redundancy for the 767 routes- For 5 straight days while we were in SJU, N656US flew the route, until N647US took over. lol
