Full Airport Flight Schedules?

Fri Aug 09, 2002 6:06 pm

As a spotter, I lke to know what is coming, and when. It would also help to knowflight numbers for tracking purposes.

The other day I was spotting at LGA on my dock. The planes were landing over me on Rwy 31, and ther wasn't anythign too exciting coming in. I decided ot leave, and JUST as I left, a DL767 came in, then an ATA757, then an AA757, then an Airbus, and then another AA757.

JUst my luck, I sit on the dock for close ot an hour and see only one heavy, and then jsut as I leave, 4 heavies come in during the next 10 minutes!

I undertand that cab drivers have access to a listing of every arrival to an airport in order for them to know what kind of plane is landing, and at what airline, so they know where to pick up people.

I was wondering if there was anyplace online that I can go to so I can learn the airline, flight number, type of plane, etc, for EVERY arrival and departure going out of La Guardia Airport (JFK wouldn't hurt either).

Anyone know how I can learn this?

Thank you in advance,

-Phil

Those are pretty good sites, but I didn't really get what I was looking for.

I want to learn this because there are 5 different kinds of planes that come in and go out of LGA that I love to get footage of;

DL767
DL757
TZ757
UA757
AA757

I just need to know whatever information I would need so I can know when all of these planes come in so I can plan my spotting more accurately.

I know all the ATA 757s go to Midway. I know nothing about the other airlines.

ANY information about anythign would be extremely helpful.

Of course, an altogether schedule would be pretty badass too.  Big grin

Big Phil,

You could get on www.travelocity.com and check the inbound flights from larger destinations. Like do a search on flights from ATL-LGA beginning at 10am and then move on to ORD-LGA, MDW-LGA, etc.

Another thing is a handheld scanner. You can get the airport frequencies off any sectional chart or airport facility directory book. The latter is probably better. You can buy the airport facility directory at most any GA FBO for $5 or so. Then you can tune in LGA's approach and tower freqs thus knowing what's out there within 20-30 miles or so before you ever see anything.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help.

Check www.flightarrivals.com. You can sort arrivals by airport, and it will give the next few hours worth of inbound or outbound flights. It's not a full all day schedule, but it does give ETA, aircraft type, flight number, etc.
Bhmal, Bigphilnyc probably has a scanner already. Looking at the number of posts he has about spotting at LGA, I don't know how he couldn't. But maybe I'm wrong, because you can hear planes 30 minutes away, so those heavies would have been in range.

I don't have a scanner actually.

I just came back in from doing some early morning filming. They changed runways on me, SOBs! lol. They were landing on 31 (which is best for me), and then switched arrivals to 4 and departed on 13 (so I still had SOME action, but it's not as fun).

I jsut go down there and catch stuff by chance. The only specific planes that I was able to target were ATA 757s and the DL727 (not there anymore).

I should get a scanner. I'm broke though.

Ok, here is what I have learned so far (I am typing it here as if anyone cares):

Here is the plane I want to see along with the airports that the coinciding airline flies them to and from:

UA757 - ORD, DEN

TZ757 - MDW

DL767 - ATL

DL757 - DFW, FLL, ATL

AA757 - DFW, MIA

Anyone have anything to add?

(I like 757s, but I excluded Northwest on purpose. Who the fuck wants to look at a 752 BOWLING SHOE? lol)

I wish it could be easier by just listing "AA arrivals into LGA", instead of having to lsit each and every airport that planes are coming form one by one.

Next time you're in the terminal check at the desk where they have all the tourist brochures and ground-transport info. Maybe they'll have the Port Authority timetable that comes out every couple months giving complete schedules for LGA-JFK-EWR. Including cargo, supposedly.
