AC Stops ZRH Fpr The Winter Season

Sat Aug 10, 2002 2:36 am

Not very surprisingly for me, AC stops ZRH for the winter timetable but they have confirmed that they will be back for the next summer timetable. With the Swissair and now the Swiss monopol, Zurich lost a lot of intercontinental carriers in the last years. Something must be wrong here.....I really hope that we get some new carriers for the winter season!!! It becomes more and more boring at ZRH...sadly!!

Where did you hear/read that? AC is also announcing more "charter" flights for the summer... Maybe that's what they'll be using their 763s for... I must say that I'm surprised that ZRH is being cut...

Next flights: YQM-YOW-YOW / YQM-YYZ-CPH-YYZ-YQM / YQM-YUL-LYS-BRU-YUL-YQM / YQM-PUJ-YQM

This was reported in this weeks "TravelInside". I am not surprised because a lot of now "Star Alliance" Airlines who operated to ZRH has cancelled these flights in favour of more German services like UAL and Varig...

This only goes to show that many of AC's European routes are low-yield. Wherever AC doesnt have a hub to connect to in Europe, AC will be marginal at best.

Some YYZer who will go nameless, kept arguing with me, but the truth speaks for itself. Must be Toronto's low-PCI Neil  Big thumbs up

Or perhaps AC figures it can utilize the B763 better during the winter months on another route that earns more $$$. Just because the route is stopping for the winter doesn't mean it is low yield...it just means that the traffic during the winter does not warrent a non-stop flight.

This flight has been operating every winter for how many years now?

Here's a good correlation, seasonal flights are usually marginal at best. Ill make a betthat this isnt a big $$ maker..
