Antonov At Abbotsford?

Sun Aug 11, 2002 1:28 pm

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the abbotsford airshow. I'm thinking about going tomorrow, and am wanting to know whether or not the antonov(not sure which number, I'm referring to the largest aircraft in the world) will be there. Yesterday my buddy saw a huge black military type aircraft fly over vancouver. Was that it or not? any help on this matter is greatly appreciated

i was just there today, and unfortunately it's not there this year. i have seen it there before...quite an amazing sight whether static or flying.

worth noting and perhaps of interest, however, was the air canada 747-400 flying the civilian demo this year...that i managed to miss while crossing the border into b.c.!! (i only caught one of it's low and dirty turns while sitting in traffic!). you may know, but the civilian demo is typically never a scheduled event because of airline ops issues, but is almost always guaranteed to happen at some point of each day. last year it was an air canada A330 that flew in the late afternoon. the 747 today flew before noon.

another random side note: while waiting in line and cursing myself for not getting there sooner, two guys gave me and my girlfriend their chalet/vip passes, so everything was free!

win some, lose some...

I was there Friday, and unfortunatly the AC 767 flyby got cancelled .. no explanation given, either.
The rest of the show was awsome though. Had 'runway seating' and a grand view of everything. Also the statics are worth visiting.
