How Is BA's 777-200?

Wed Aug 14, 2002 2:31 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm going to fly with Britsh Airways HAM-LHR-EWR. The flight from Heathrow to Newark will be operated by a 777-200... It's the first time for me to fly on a 777. My question is, how comfortable is the cabin of BA's 777-200, size of the seats, are in every class and every plane screens in the back of the seat, like on these shots?

To my knowlege, all BA 772s have their PTVs fitted. As for comfort...above NW, but nothing extraordinary. If possible, try get World Traveller Plus...

I have been on a few of them and they all had PTVs. Seats are fine, a little hard but very comfortable. Very professional FAs, and surprisingly tasty food. In my opinion, BA's economy class service is excellent, my favorite carrier for transatlantic routes by a long shot. Much better comfort and service than SWISS or Lufthansa.

I've flown BA 772s LGW-Denver twice in the last 12 months and very comfy flights they were, even 10 hours in economy was easily bearable.

I just flew BA SFO-LHR-SFO, both 777's. Food and service were better than any US airline I've flown transatlantic on. Seats in economy are comfy..as possible when flying 10 hours. PTV's are all in place and the entertainment selection good. If nothing else, you can watch the in flight map, with stats on location, altitude, ground speed, time to destination, etc..

I agree with Aq737..try to get traveller plus. I asked to upgrade on the SFO-LHR portion and was given a seat in plus..it's just that much more comfy and the PTV's are a bit larger.

No, it's an improved economy class, with the main benefit being higher seat pitch (38"), and a few other additions which I personally consider peripheral in importance; I suppose it's worth it if you're tall (over 6', say). If you're interested, phone your agent to see how much an upgrade will cost you.

Food & service are the standard economy class offering.

Cheers

Looks like we'll be doing the same trip then Big grin

I'll be flying CPH-LHR-EWR with BA and the LHR-EWR leg is, suprisingly  Big thumbs up, flown by a 772.

Restricted WT+ fares should cost about £150 extra per flight, try www.deckchair.com for prices

My BA B777 flights belong to the best flights I have ever had. Seat pitch was good, partly caused by the slim seat design. Seats are comfortable, and best of all they have PTVs with a nice selection of channels. BA cabin crews have always been very friendly and caring, no matter if European or long haul flights.

Regards
Udo

P.S.: I had most of cockpit visits on BA, they had been very liberal about it, even for landings. I still remember visiting the cockpit of BA's first 777, G-ZZZC. Too bad it's not any longer possible...

Guten Abend Tobi....ich hab' gerade Ihre Nachrichten gelesen, und hab' Ihnen einen Vorschlag....wenn sie das Datum auf Englisch aufschreiben, benutzen sie immer noch 'on the' und nicht 'at the'. Sie haben eine direkte Uebersetzung benutzt 'an dem=am=at the'.
z.B on the 11the Sept....nicht at the 11th Sept.

Doch ein Vorschlag

Karl

Ich hoffe, dass mein Deutsch besser wird..vielleicht nicht.

I flew BA from ATL to LGW to BCN earlier this summer in Y and the ATL-LGW leg was on BA on a 777. I came back on Delta from CDG, so I only went one way on BA. Anyway, I found it to be sort of cramped. It wasn't so bad, but still cramped. I'm 5' 6" or 5' 7", so if you're a few inches taller, who knows how it will be. The food was alright. The service was fine. It was friendly, but sort of disappeared after meal services. I thought the seat was really comfortable though. It was thin, so you felt it a lot if the person behind you bumped it, but it was definately comfortable. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for your information about BA's 777-200.

I think I'll take some picture from inside the cabin and of course uploading them, when I'm back  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
