Can A340-600s handle double loading jetbridges?
The distance between those two doors sure seem
awfully long...

According to the Airbus4U online rag they can, reflecting a desire for airlines to segregate the premium classes from Economy.

It wont be a problem at AMS where the rear -over-the-wing jet bridge can reach the #4 door on a 747 [that's the door BEHIND the wing], or even the very last door on the MD11. A346 won't be a problem. However, still waiting for the first A346 at AMS....

So the answer to your question maybe different from airport to airport.

PW100,

Do you know where I can find a picture showing the
jetbridge reaching a 747's #4 door? I don't think I've
ever seen it done before...

Sure looks impressive these over-the-wing type jetbridge [now this waht you could call a jetbridge...!]. BTW These are all double jetways, one over the wing, an another one like a normal jetway connecting to the nose of the aircraft.
AMS has about 20 or so of these gates. Just ask KLM how efficient they are in loading/unloading 250-400 pax to/from a 747!

Hope this helps.

Thanks again for your help!
