Malaga Yesterday

Fri Aug 16, 2002 1:49 am

Prior to boarding in Malaga yesterday, I saw eight Saudi Arabian aircraft: one B747-300 behind which five fighter jets taxied; two B777-200s; one MD-11; one B757-200; and three bizjets, two of which in the former SV livery. There may have also been a SV Hercules in either the airline's current or previous colours. However, it departed before I could identify it. One presumes that the Saudi Royal Family were visiting the area!

The King of Saudi Arabia has recently had an operation in his eye[s] in Geneva, Switzerland and is recovering in his vacation home in Marbella. Many people from Saudi Arabia come to vists him which explains the large amount of aircraft.

In Geneva also the leaders of the provincial governments, ministers, government officials, freinds and family visited him regularly because it is customary to do so. Also Hosni Mubarak (Egyptian President), King Mohammed VI of Morroco and many dignitaries, embassadors and diplomats from around the Gulf and Europe visited him in Geneva many of them using some of the many SV aircraft you saw there.
