Help Me With An Itinerary: PHX To Singapore

Wed Oct 13, 1999 5:48 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm planning an overseas vacation for next year. I want your suggestions on the best way to get from here (Phoenix, USA) to Singapore and back. I'm looking for airlines with the best service, most comfortable aircraft, and least stops. 1st leg will probably be PHX-LAX. Thanks in advance.

No need to think... Singapore Airlines, the world's best, from LAX to SIN.

Cheers!

I'll have to agree with Ciro on that. I just flew on Singapore airlines. Service was excellent and the food great!
I've flown on 9V-SPK.

Of course, I might be just a teeny bit biased, but what about flying with the one and only, the great, the unequalled Cathay Pacific. You could stopover in Hong Kong on the way out or back; you could also stop in Bangkok (one Cathay flight stops in BKK between HKG and SIN) AND - perhaps most importantly from an enthusiast's viewpoint - you could take in more different types. SIA would be a terrific choice, no doubt about it, but it would be 744s all the way. With Cathay, you could fly on a 777, A330 or even a 773.

Of course, have you considered Korean Air via Seoul?
Er, mm . . not, let's stick with Cathay . . .

Use UA to LAX and then have choice of two flts on SQ and one on UA..All are direct with 1 stop...This way you can get all miles credited to either airlines FF program since they are both part of Star Alliance..With number of flts PHX-LAX you should be able to find an easy connection..It will be one stop check-in and all with using UA/SQ.....

Have a great trip...

Thanks for the replies. I have heard both Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific are excellent. Kaitak's suggestion about stopping in Bangkok is worth considering, since that was the other place my wife and I really wanted to go. I let you know how it turns out.

Regards

Why not try Malaysia Airlines and its new co-operation with Northwest. Daily out of LAX with only one-stop either in Tokyo or Taipei into Kuala Lumpur's new state-of-the-art airport...and then a quick connection on the KL-Singapore shuttle service. Along the way you can fly on S.E.Asia's largest carrier and service that has won several awards too.

Hello,

Don't forget RTW fares (round-the-world). A good one is AA/QF/CX/BA. You can use Qantas or Cathay to SIN then Cathay to BKK. To return home, use BA BKK to LON and fly non-stop Gatwick-PHX. What a treat!! RTW fares are about $2800 per pax off peak (until April). You can get off and on as you like at other destinations as long as you travel in the same direction.

Also, there are flights now to Asia via Las Vegas. Let's support new non-stop flights. The world does not need to pass through LAX!

Happy flying.

As you want to go to Bangkok too, how about using Thai? This will also give you the chance to make stoovers in Osaka or Tokyo. Plus you earn Star Alliance mileage all the way.

If you would like to stop over in Bangkok.. and going on to Singapore... Thai has the promotion of Visit Asean Fare.. stop over in Osaka.. then to Bangkok... to Singapore.. and you can have another 1 extra Asean Country... like Malaysia , Vietnam , the Philippines , Cambodia , Myanmar... the prices are attractive as well
