Austin Powers And The 747

Fri Aug 16, 2002 8:50 pm

Ok, Ok, don't shoot me down, i know this subject has been raised here a number of times. I have looked at the past posts but the question has never really been answered.

In the first Austin Powers movie (International Man of Mystery) it shows a 747 in flight in the "Shagadelic" colour scheme. Now that question has been answered, it was computer graphics on that one. (Not hard to spot either, could have been better!!)

However I have just seen the newest movie (Goldmember) and a 757 is also shown in this film, infact landing. this also has the colour scheme on, although this time looked VERY realistic, and also bore the registration N747AP (maybe N747AU, something like that!!) As this looked so realistic does anyone know if this 747 was actually a real one with REAL Austin Powers paint, or was it just very very good computer graphics??

I think its computer graphics, maybe someone can shed some light.....

The first movie shows him in a 747. The 747 was not in commercial service in 1967 (what gives)?

I thought he was supposed to in the 90's in the first film.

Yes, but they said "We have kept your private jet" or something to that effect. It is a mistake. Maybe its because no one knew/cared. Maybe it was because some did know/care, and wanted to make a deliberate in-joke about movies being factually incorrect? Who knows?
