A Mysterious 757 Of Israir And A 767 F-GLOV

Sun Aug 18, 2002 5:01 pm

Hi guys!

Im spotting at the moment from the El Al lounge at TLV, in half a hour I'll be boarding LY 777 for a flight to JFK.

There was a 767-300 that just passed the terminal for taxing RWY26, it was registered F-GLOV, however, instead of the airline name there was a strange internet address, and therefore I couldn't recognize the airline, anyone can help me on this? Oh, and it had a sticker near its tail saying: "Love is in the air.."

Also, I know Israir got another 757 for its charter EU routes, however, I wasn't aware of the exact deal they made for the leasing. I just saw this aircraft landing it was all white with the Israir logo on the fuselage, anyone can supply more details?

Thank you very much!

Michael (in 13 hours @ NYC!!!!)

The B763 F-GLOV has been acquired in July by Aeris of France. It was formerly operated by Britannia as G-OBYA (built in 96).

No idea about the Israir B757.

If this can help: I photographed an all-white Boeing 757-258ER of Israir on July 5th 2002 at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS/EHAM). The aircraft was registered as 4X-EBI. Hope this helps...

4X-EBI is a former EL AL aircraft, the last one delivered to LY (built in 97, msn 745). It's either directly leased from LY or a leasing company (if LY has returned the aircraft before).

Thanx a lot guys.

I wasn't aware at all that there was a further change in the LY 757 fleet.
Anyway, I guess I'll have to find more details about this strange deal by myself.

4X-EBI was never purchased by LY, this a/c belongs to ILFC.
I know that LY wanted to get rid of EBI by it couldn't do so since the leasing agreement enabled LY to do so. That might be the reason why Israir is now operating the a/c, but I'll be able to verify it only when I'm back in the country.

Thanx again,
Michael @ New York City

Hi Michael,
How are you ?
I have just returned this morning from a week in NYC , it was so hot there.
Anyway ,
EBI was returned about 3 months ago to ILFC which leased it to Israir.
Its a shame becouse I never got the chance to fly it , it is the only Aircraft from the fleet that I never laid my foot on it.
When are you flying back ?

Hi 4X-ELD! how r u?
the shame is that this plane has now lost its livery Crying ...and that there is quite no airplane still carrying it...sniff sniff sniff!  Crying

There are now (astonishingly) Jumbo flights to GVA each Tuesday; for August 6, a 747-200 was scheduled and, although I have really no free time, I planned to go and see it  Love... But when I checked the online schedule before leaving for the airport, I saw it had been finally replaced by a 744...

I don't think EBI ever carried an actual livery, Toda.  Smile

Hey Gal, what's up?, I flew in Platinum class, was very impressive!
I'll write a comprehensive report here at A.net about LY new class as soon as I'm back.

Im going back to TLV at yom rishon, ha'rishon la'tshii, LY22.

Im flying Platinum again, this time on a 744, and since I managed to do seating for myself in TLV, I'll be seated in the upper deck, row 72 (the 1st row). Any chance you'll be there?

BTW, we had to go around right after touching down at JFK, it was rather scary, I'll share more details about it in my report.

David! Keep in touch!

Regarding the 757, the only 757 that operated with no colors was EBF which was on lease for some years operating charter flights. It was all white.

I forgot to mention;
I flew in EBI a few times, this a/c, in oppose to LY other 757, didn't have the beige and brown strips on the wall, it had a striking shades of blue on it's wall, its carpet and stuff were in the same decorations of the 744 fleet.
It was a nice a/c.

Last time I flew on it was July 2000 TLV-ZRH.

David, you once posted a topic regarding LY flight that left it parking place at TLV for t/o to ZRH before all pax got on the a/c, that meant that the a/c would've t/o with un accompanied cargo, which would've meant a huge security fault in the eyes of most airlines... If you recall what I'm talking about, then you should know that this was my last flight on EBI. My mother and granny where 2 of the 15 pax who didn't get on the a/c before it started it taxi to the runway.

Michael,

I am going tomorrow to NYC ,going back on LY22 on Monday.
You are very corect about the Platinum Class, was this your first flight in the New class ?
The pasangers are so happy with the new service, it is a plasure to work in it.
I do prefer working on the main deck not In U/D.
Hope to meet you one day,

Oh,
and I fotgot to say Shalom to Toda!
I promise that if I will run my own airline we will paint it with ELAL's old colors.
But there is no way we will have the old wall paper.

Hi Mike,
sure I remember this weird departure...and I still wonder how it happened on such a small airport...! I didn't know there were LY planes with blue walls, if you had any pic...?
Have a nice flight back home!

Hi 4X-ELD,
OK, I hope you'll keep your word Wink/being sarcastic!
As I see, you're always on widebodies...so never to GVA? Now during August the regular LY345/6 flight is on 744s each Tuesday; if by chance you're once coming, let me know!

BTW...you didn't like the Jumbo's walls...?

Shabbat shalom to all
