Do any of you know what their total fleet will be ?

N250UP MD-11F 48745/596 ex PP-SPL
N251UP MD-11F 48744/592 ex PP-SPK
N252UP MD-11F 48768/601 ex PP-SFA
N253UP MD-11F 48439/554 ex PP-VPM
N254UP MD-11F 48406/547 ex PP-VPL ** Not yet in service **
N270UP MD-11F 48576/574 ex JA8585 ** Not yet in service **

I no nothing! If I remember correctly they are getting 13! I thought though 10 were from JAL so if 5 are coming from Brazil and 10 from JAL that's 15 so maybe they aren't geeting all of JAL's. Who know's?

If they wanna acquire somemore perhaps they can look at the SWISS ones. I think FedEx cancelled deliveries for them - SWISS is getting A340s soon so they wanna get rid of their MD11s.

Currently UPS is operating 3 MD-11's, ex-Vasp. There are 2 more in Singapore being converted to freighters, ex-Varig; these will be in operation this fall. They have contacts for 12 more (4 a year for 3 years); 10 of these will be ex-JAL. The Vasp and Varig airplanes are GE powered; the JAL's are P&WA powered.

Their initial "order" was for 13, with options on 22.

The 13 were I presume fully sourced when the announcement was made.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

The Vasp & Varig Md-11 have the CF6-80-c2d1f GE's and while not the same but UPS' 767 have the CF6-80c2b7f GE power which has been a good engine for the 767. UPS Would like more GE powered MD'11's but the GE powered ones would take longer to acquire. Varig has 14 GE powered MD-11's right now that will more than likely be N255UP-269UP. The JAL birds are P&W 4460 and they are becoming available now. One is in Singapore now being converted along with an Ex Varig MD-11. The JAL PW MD-11 arrived in Singapore in early June. The Varig arrived in early July. Both should be in fleet by Peak season and flying in Asia.

The Swiss MD-11's are not a consideration at this point.
