Wed Aug 28, 2002 6:51 pm

today, a very popular a.net pic appeared in german newsmag DER SPIEGEL online. it is used to illustrate an article on the johannesburg environment summit. the subtitle under the pic says "flying also does harm to the environment".

Hi

Yeah, it also appeared in our local paper earlier this year (Darmstädter Echo). I contacted Marc and he told me he sold that pic to AP, he than gladly accepted my offer of sending him the newspaper with his famous moon-picture.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Earlier this year (or maybe late last year) a Joe Pries photo of a UA 767 was in the Spiegel´s print version. It was credited to "Joe Pries/Airliners" or something like that. I made a thread about this, back then.

Rabenschlag: Quick! Tell Mark Garfinkel about it, see whether it's printed in the mag and send it to him if it is!

With a bit of luck, he might send you a print of the photo (I seem to recall he did that for the first people to send him publications with his pic in)

Regards

>>>see whether it's printed in the mag

I don´t believe it is. I read the current Spiegel yesterday, and I don´t remember seeing it. I was not specifically looking for it, but I doubt it would have gone unnoticed.

I mean I did notice this one

last December, and that one´s a lot less spectacular.

Here´s the thread I started back then, btw.

Ly334:

Why do you say that? Mark was the photographer, he uploaded the picture to Airliners.net. However, as the owner of the photo he can do anything he wants with it. As was said, he sold the picture to AP, and DER SPIEGEL paid a fee to AP to use the photo.

What's the problem?

Hi, Thanks all. I am a photog with The Boston Herald
As a member newspaper of the Associated Press, the Boston Herald (when asked) will give (for free) a photo after we have used it first. The AP asked for the photo the day it went on the front page of The Boston Herald. The Herald and I got no money. BUT, it went all over the world in many publications, and was seen by msnbc.com editors and put on their web site. So I was happy, did not matter about no money.
